The Selimie Mosque is the work of architect Sinan when he was 80 years old and called his work of art “My Masterpiece”. The Selimie Mosque occupies a place amongst the masterpieces of the architectural history of both Turkey and the world. The mosque is a symbol of the city of Edirne and, at the same time, it is a symbol of the Ottoman period. It was built between 1569-1575, subject to the order of Selim II
